Raleigh royal almost NOS

Beautiful. My Dad has a Randonneur of about the same age (also 531, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same frame and fork) with an original 6spd Shimano Deore group, which Mombat place at 1988. A few years ago he asked me to sort him a flat bar as his back is no longer up to using drops, so I found him a nice lightweight Ritchey bar and period 6spd XT thumbshifters. I'll try and get a pic next time I visit.

The reason behind my assumption of 1986/7 is that the Deore MT-60 groupset appeared for the 1987 model year and would have been seen on '1987' bikes in late '86.

The Royal has the 'Z' series which would have been all but replaced by the 'all new' MT-60:

The chainset seems to have gone for the '88 model year with the arrival of the Exage groupsets.

Its all fun!

Chainset is "LE" so May '87.

Still not got round to taking any pictures. I have been riding it to work the last week as it has been lovely weather down here. Broke 45mph going down Penpillic hill  Solid as a rock!

P.S. Downside to going down this hill on the way home is that I have to climb it at 5am in the morning...
