Bought a royal this morning in my size. Don't think it was a bargin really but couldn't pass it up. The owners Son said his Dad bought it in '88 and did 2 club rides before storing it until now. Will be with me on Tuesday.

Here are the 87,88 and 89 catalogues. I'm 99% sure it is 88 and that is when the seller said his Dad ordered it from a catalogue.

1988 http://veterancycleclublibrary.org.uk/n ... brary).pdf
1989 http://veterancycleclublibrary.org.uk/n ... brary).pdf

The 4 point rack is 89 so before then and the 87 had a sakae chainset and different rear derailleur. The 88 matches. Guess I won't 100% be able to confirm until it is in my hands and I can see the BB number.

Yes, 88 it is.

I wonder if Raleigh had a stock of older parts? See what the Shimano date codes are here as those components were already on their way out as the push for MTB tech cut a swathe through the late 1980's

Even the Reynolds badges make it look older than it is.

Very nice!

I bought a Raleigh Clubman a few months ago in the same colour and in the same essentially 'new' condition.
