stick some proper geerz on it

Actually, if you like it, its the best thing you can do. Kit it out with either shiny Campagnolo or 1986 Shimano 6208 600 with some 1989 105 or 600 7/8spd STi. It transforms the ride as you no longer have to worry about gear changes especially if you mate it with some lightweight wheels and tyres. And it will look nice.

Thanks for the suggestion but it’s staying in 1982 stylie.

I have something else arriving next week if he ever gets round to posting it.

Thats a shame as decent frames deserve decent parts. Riding shouldnt be a punishment - if the brakes, tyres and gears are not up to scratch, fit something better.

Sorry Mr Cheese, can I politely disagree? I rather enjoy that my 1984 Majestic makes me work a little, it reminds me of being a kid....

THM.... all that work saving the paint job, the rest of the bike deserves some respect too.

Ps she looks great

The Gran Sport was sold as an upgrade path, it wore the lowest of equipment to make it affordable so you could improve on it as and when budget (or your rich mate Dave casting off 6 month old top end parts as 'rubbish') allowed

I have a 1970's frame with all the top end Simplex/ Sachs equipment and its just a chore to ride when compared to a similar frame with a bit of early indexed 600. Even my 1950's frame hides a bit of Hyperglide and indexed levers.

No-one has noticed yet.

Why not go the whole hog and wear a hair shirt at the same time?
