Hi - my first post, so apologies if I transgress any forum conventions... I've been restoring this 1984 Raleigh Classic touring bike, which I found on a local auction site. I expected the frame to be 531ST (Super Touring), but it turns out it's 531C (Competition). Is 531C the norm for this bike? It's a beautifully responsive frame.
I think e Classic would be classed as a light tourer (or demi course in old language) and would therefore use 531 or its, later incarnation 531c. Principally as the Classic frame would be used for other road bikes under a different name.
Think Carlton corsair which used the same frame as some other carlton bikes
