Hi my first road bike, been gifted a Raleigh Ace. Dont know anything about it looks oldish going by the rear mech cotter pin crankset and steely rims. I suppose what im wanting to know is is it worth doing up or just sorting out and using as is. Doesnt need much doing to get it rolling again brakes setting up gears tweeking and air in the round bits.

It's not black and red is it? I'd be sooooo tempted to get Lloyds http://www.hlloydcycles.com/ to hook me up with the decals needed to make it look a bit like...

Red, black and yellow team colours alone will make it twice as fast :D :D My Europa - the gate above - only had a bottom of the line frame, but it was very nice to ride - comfy, not too heavy and surprisingly easy to wind up to speed. Be great to see some pictures of yours.

mines similar but standard? graphic's on it and a shed load less shiny  Just been out for a quick blast on it, forgot how much easier it is to ride a roadie just a bit of a wobble on the gear changes. Will get some pics up tomoz. The wheels have more rust than chrome and same with the cranks.

Hell! Id get cleaning! Look forward to seeing this one back to its best.

Well if I stay awake (just finished another night shift) will be getting a clean today. Not going to be doing to much to this at the min, good clean and lube thats about it. The rear wheel is more rust than chrome same with the crank arms. It had a horrid rear mudguard on it when I first got it so that was removed pronto.

Frame looks in fine fettle - I think by the early eighties, Raleigh had pretty much got shiny, everlasting paint licked. My Europa looked similarly grungy when it arrived - I'm sure a bit f a wash and polish will have it looking very nice.

Keep those pictures coming :D
