Came up from the S.East for a camping weekend, to celebrate a friends birthday, and went for a lovely, if short ride, starting at Barford St.Michael, nr Deddington, Oxfordshire. The route was a mix of quiet lanes and bridalways. It can be seen here..

The camp site, Cheney Manor is clean, quiet, and cheap. £ 6.50 per tent/night. It also has a fishing lake for those who are that way inclined. See Here

The local pub is very good, just a 5 min walk away. It does not do food, but on request the landlord is aminable to you bringing in a takeaway meal ( the chip shop or curry palaces in Deddington are the nearest) to eat while you are drinking. He has been known to supply plates and cutlery

Apart from our usual riding partners, we were joined by friends on two lovely old retro's, Martins old FSR
and Nessie's GT Agressor
After a late start, we went from the campsite to the first pub, the Duck on the Pond, where rain delayed us for too long (honest). :roll:
The weather cleared enough for us to get going, but we stopped for a picnic/tea at the 4 mile mark on the route. It was just a short stretch down to the Falkland Arms in Great Tew for more refreshment. There was a retro road bike parked up when we got there. A GT with an unusual stem modification, and, presumably, a stuck seat post!
Suitably refreshed, we made our way home through the twilight.

Looks like the area has a lot more to offer.....
