Cheers for the links.
The Ortlieb bags look the biz but the link to the Velocity rear rack states it only fits if the rear is 1.75 or smaller, I've got a 1.9 so it might foul.
The narrow profile would be a plus, but I reckon with the added weight (tent, food, stove, beer, sleeping bag etc.), if I went down to a 1.75 rear I'm going to bust a rim. Do you have any experience with this particular rack by any chance?
Brilliant! The Cosmo stainless steel rack looks just the job and the companies website has PDF fitting instructions, it certainly looks like the mounting hardware can be adapted to fit my frame without fabrication.
Thanks for the info, never heard of them before but they look the biz, cheers.
If you have the funds then Tubus racks are ace but if you only want a small step down in quality for a big drop in cost check out the full range of tortec racks...... they do normal models as well as the narrow clearance ones.
also consider a trailer the carry freedom Y-frame or extrawheel are both excellent.
