Quick Avid Tri Align canti question

Had these on my Manitou and fitted easily. Now Ive bought the same for a Fat Chance Im building up and they wont fit over the brake bosses on frame/Manitou forks?

The bosses have flat sides. Could they be for V brakes?

Am I just being an idiot, or do I need sleeves?

If they don't fit on now a sleeve ain't gonna help anything is it?

Sure that's not just how far they go on?

Ps, canti and v posts are the same dimensions. U brake posts are different.
