Quality of bike related tools ie chain tools

Park USA no issues .
BUT chain tools from other well known top brands and not cheap ones  pins bend, bits break off with minimal use. Never had problems with the old cyclo tool. Used one for ages till it was worn out .Rant over

+1

some modern tools are absolute sh1te. I have a pair of 20 year old tacx cone spanners that are still great, but some modern ones have already bent. OK, they were quite cheap, but even cheap tools should be useable!

Park all the way. I also use cyclus tool and there Campagnolo tools are first rate but very expensive. VAR also make good tools and apparantly Pedro's to too. Everything else will be of variable quality. Tools made for the workshop are the ones to go for rather than comsumer tools.

Re:

Evening all,

Thanks for the reminder that i need a chain tool, i broke my 30 yr old one recently.

Any recommendations for cone spanners, i seem to be a bit sore on them.

I'm gonna buck the trend. Am lot of my gear is Park and I'm not overly impressed. Just a few days ago my Park speed link pliers bent because I dared to actually use them. Expensive too.

Re: quality of bike related tools

Same for me with my 15mm pedal spanner from Bikehut, rounded ends after first seized set of pedals. Raided my brother-in-law's cupboard and did the job instantly.

Will be buying Park Tools at 3x price and 10x longevity from now on.

Re:

My solution for decent tools is hunting of good condition second hand pro tools such as VAR in France

managed to by a whole lot last year with tools from the 70's ( and a preciray tool in addition  ) from an amateur so they were not so much used as a "pro shop " ones

but you need patience or go to cycles jumble fairs

apart from these , I but from time to time Parktool or VAR tools ( but a VAR chaintool snapped in my hands  )
Cyclus seem also good value for money
