Quadra differences

Hi all,

Looking a getting a pair of quadra's as I want cheap simple forks. Just wondered what are the differences between the 10's and 21's. Also I have seen speed spring kits for them, are they any good and are replacement elastomers available?

Cheers

Fred

Dave h has a set for sale with the speed springs in 1 1/4 size- they were nice looking forks (They were mine orig) don't know much about forks thou

I don't know much about them but from what I've picked up since joining this forum and looking for people
Quadra21R (or Q21R to say it properly) are the newer one's and use a similar Judy Jack stack of elastomers to the Judy forks. just no oil damping (the elastomers I assume partly do this) So will probably be the best.
There is a Q5 but use the old sytle elastomer stack of, and here is a big assumption, of the quadra's

Quadra21 is the higher spec Quadra10
I think Q5 must have replaced the Q10 ?

Grabbing a link you can read and report the differences for us.

quadra 5 was non adjustable---10's were adjustable but you needed a long allen wrench to reach inside to do it----21's adjusted with the plastic thumbscrew on top----21R was same as 21, just "slightly" more travel and a different color---all used single piece elastomers but 21R had the little elastomer pieces with plastic connectors to mix and match firmness by using different colored elastomers--longer one piece elastomers came in different colors, too (cold weather, warm weather, etc)---springs were avaiable (which i had a pair once) and of course the englund air carts worked too, which i still have a set NOS---i am NOT a rock shox expert, i just happened to own at least one of all those models at some point in time
