Not sure of the tubing used & not speaking of Manitou alone but many prototypes weren't heat treated as longevity wasn't a concern. Until now...…...

i own serial number 9, and build date and sn nummber is also hand written. it doesn't say "proto" on mine. never saw another until now.

Perhaps you could post a picture of yours, so we can compare the hand writting .

The only thing that I could find has been Photobucketed:

All “normal” ones come out with a BB shell engraved like this

Of course if the early ones with M2’s on the backend we’re blank then anyone could grab a dremell and piss about

Here’s mine - which is a year older and Manitou III makes dating them a precise science


The weld on the for sale one is a tad agricultural compared to the stacked 5p coins on mine

I’m sitting on the fence here - yet to be convinced it anything other than a cracked bike you can’t ride and an expensive ornament with a mosh-mash of parts
