I need to press a Shimano nylon BB into a carbon frame with alloy shells / inserts. The shells are glued into the carbon.
- I don’t want too much drag on disassembly later on as I’ve seen the bonded in cups part company with the frame on this model of frame where BBs get stuck.
- I’d like to keep water out (preventing festering of the alloy) which capillaries between the cup and bb shell.
- I don’t want to use an oil-based lube as the plastic may swell.
Therefore I’m considering silicone grease to smear on the cups. Does this seem logical? A retaining compound seems overkill as it is pressfit and a hollowtech chainset. In the worse case it creaks I can disassemble, clean and then use retaining compound.
