Has anyone ever sent a bike through a courier service and not put it in a box? And was the courier happy to collect it like that, or was it declined
Are there any services that don't need the object to be in a box,I once heard a company that collected kayaks and surfboards as they are

I've never sent a bike without putting it in a box and never would but I have received a couple, just covered in nothing more than bubble wrap. I believe both were delivered by Parcelforce and I was very fortunate to receive them both undamaged.
