So I got this frame because it came with some parts I wanted. bought blind really and wasn't that bothered. trouble is I hate not knowing, and it looks to be trying really hard to be something interesting, so...
Small frame, around 14 inch, box stays, disc mount, and more gussets than... a thing with lots of gussets. Finish had been stripped back, evidence of being red (badly, bits on components too) and possibly black before that looking in the corners. No damage to speak of. Frame number is nice and visible. IS disc mount so probably very late 90's onwards.
head tube gussets, cane creek headset:
seat stays reinforced too:
box stays, all pretty tidy really:
distinctive dropouts?
this is quite distinctive too:
Closest thing i can find is the Craftworks Slalom Pro, looks like this:
got some details here and here. Not much to go on really so still not 100% convinced.
The headtube gusset is just right but the seat stays is close but not identical, same with having different dropouts. Coukd be different year of same model perhaps? Not much info about on these unfortunately (call it rarity value!). Assuming it is a Craftworks.... The company is still there (http://www.craftworkscycles.com/index.php/our-story) ... there is mention of the slalom pro as predecessor of the current "rail" model, but nothing else. They have a current presence on facebook too so I'm going to try for some info there, see if they can confirm anything.
It's even popped up [url-http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=70815&start=15]on this site before [/url], but just in passing.
Any other bets or info?
