PINKBIKE is exhausting...

I enjoy some of the stuff on PINKBIKE but mostly it’s people trying get more/bigger air, bigger/bendier whips, digging up the planet, going to places and sliding down them tearing the ground or jumping over the place they are visiting. It’s f=====ing exhausting.

Only occasionally do they cover distance cycling, actually enjoying somewhere, reflections on being with people etc...

Mike Levi does some good things on the podcasts, talking to key people about their past, but it’s swamped by mania and people shouting.

I think I might start looking more at Singletrack but it feels so much nicer here on RB....

I know what you mean. The way i look at it, Pinkbike has generally been at the front end and extreme end of Mountain Biking. Like MBUK for example. It was always about DH, Trials, Jumping etc. Always the latest greatest bikes, frames, and now god forbid electric bikes! i do like the Malvern Classics, custom shows, and other interesting articles and dont mind the racing. But all the reviews on the really expensive stuff doesnt phase me as much as what it used to. Im not into the type of riding i used to do due to back issues. I do like lokoing every now and then, but i mutch prefer flicking through my classic MBUK and old "dirt" and "Sprung" videos on Youtube.

I guess these places exist because of advertisers who want to flog stuff - and tbf our demographic isn't likely to buy all of the latest must have tat - and I suppose the demographic who will, likes this hyperkinetic stuff.

Telling someone to cherish a 30 year old bike or hunt for a second hand one on eBay/Facebook, is going to have limited appeal to advertisers with dollars to splash.

I wouldn't bother with Singletrack, well not the forums, unless you are into politics more than bikes as that seems to be every other thread these days.

Far too many forums do become very political and a lot of arguments erupt. it is refreshing here that I have not seen any political discussions or disagreements. just regarding bike part selections etc 😂

I like the videos of Mike Levi and Cristina, the Bike cheks (some nice bicycles, some 26" still riding in Whistler), the friday fails, saves and sends. But the oter conten ... simply I pass.

I like some of the stuff at GMBN, but the bike cheks are not very ... I don´t know, they show you a bicycle and gives a OK, that is all. I like the retro reviews and the challenges but nothing more.

And the same with other channels (seth), some are ok, some not and you choose and have the full MTB experience.

Bike Magazine channel has dissapear. They were a bit lost.

The channel I visit near every two days is the channel of Sam Pilgrim. I like the free bike challenges etc but it is how he rides, it makes people happy despite we cannot do the same.

Bike Magazine, has been replaced by a magazine / website called ‘Beta’.

In a fit of enthusiasm I subscribed to it before it launched , only to learn the quarterly print magazine was only shipping to people in USA - doh!

I like it for the photography & some of the original writers from Bike are still contributing.
