Here are two Montello examples from the 80's. The Nuovo Red bike I bought new in 1986 as a frame set and build it with Campy SR. The cranks are dated "square 11". It was used a lot up to 1990 mostly with Look PP65's or Time Racing pedals. It originally had Mavic GP 4 tubulars on it but when the triathlon thing hit and good clinchers became available i built the wheels with Wolber GTX rims. Now it has NOS FIR Pulsar tubulars on it. I have a campy 13-21 6 speed alloy freewheel for it but now I use a 7 speed regina cx with a 13-23. It's lost it's campy brake cable housing over the years and it's had a few seats on it. Right now it has the 1986 date code San Marco Rolls saddle on it. I ride this bike once a week during the summer.
The Spumoni I recently acquired from a friend who bought it in 1987 or 1988 and only rode it a few times. This bike is a time capsule as you can see from the images. I will ride this bike with a 39 inner ring rather then the original 42. It has a campy 13-21 but I also have a 12-24 SunTour Micro Lite for the hills.
