Pinarello Montello

A 1980´s Montello SLX, restored by Mercian a couple of years ago and re-assembled with C-Record, some of which panto parts. No need to say it ate in my bank account, but well Dreamed about this build for a long time!

Very nice ...I do own several Montellos of the 80s. Also this red one here. Its the earliest ever archived Montello that has been spotted. Even a little older than the infamous Montello that was intrudiced to the public at the 1984 New York Bike Show (then: Mod "Super Star" still). The model name "Montello" was introduced ater the exhibition show. My Serial is: D 506.

Stunning red colour, which by itself likely makes your bike faster than mine! And what a nice story to it. I particularly like the chromed head tube lugs

I have to admit that I took off the paint from the lugs myself. They were SO chipped and everything flaked off. Its the only thing I changed to leaving it original. So, its not a "Montello Spezial" (chromed lugs). A normal Montello. I was quite surprised that they were fully chromed and then painted. But I thinkl that goes for the whole bike. There are several examples of those that were fully chromed and then fully painted as well!

You always have to look very close as soon as a Montello has the "old style" fork crown but matching serial numbers of frame and fork. These are SUPER rare and the very earliest ones.
