I’ve decided to sell my Peugeot Athena 653 as it doesn’t get the use that I anticipated it would and I could do with some space back! I built it up last year with a spare groupset that I had and i've ridden it for less than 100 miles since.
It’s in above average condition for its age (I have 3 of these frames and it’s the best of them all!) and has no dents, cracks or bends. It measures approximately 57cm centre to top. Reynolds 653 is a fantastic tubeset and the frame could also be the basis for a retro-mod upgrade as it has modern recessed allen key brake fittings, and 130mm rear wheel spacing.
Groupset is 7 speed Shimano 600 Tricolour/Ultegra which works really well. Front hub is also Shimano 600 and the rear is Shimano 105. Both wheels are Mavic MA2.
It has 3T bars and stem, Michelin Dynamic Classic 700x25 tyres, Selle Italia saddle, Shimano 105 headset and Clarks Elite brake pad inserts. Shimano 105 SPD pedals (triangular cleats)
Crankset is a 52/42 and rear cassette is 26-13.
The tyres, tubes, cables, cassette, pads, bar tape and chain were replaced new last year when building it up and have covered less than 100 miles from new.
There are some age-related marks to the frame including a bit of cable rub from the rear brake cable and the hoods have a bit of cracking to them but nothing that won’t impact the functionality. The rear wheel could do with a true in my opinion but again nothing to write home about in terms of affecting the way it rides!
