Pedals, Pedals and more $%^&* Pedals

Retro Newbie
Hi:

I hope this is the right place for this but here goes...

Opened a box from my deceased uncle and it seems to be pedals and lights. Let's talk pedals first. How do you tell what pedals they are ? I can't find makers marks on these at all!!! I did find 1 set of CCM and 1 set of Raleigh but all the rest are unmarked. Is that normal?

In checking eBay Schwinn seem to have value no matter what they are but looking at some examples on eBay those seem to be unmarked as well! How do you tell Schwinn parts? Are they marked?

I am curious about the one in the centre as it seems metal but old metal but of course it is unmarked. Anyone hazard a guess?

Thanks for any help and info.

They look awful. No-one would want them in that condition and not in pairs, doesn't matter what make they are.

Still, a lifetime's supply of old pedals for you, so that is nice.

You might want to try Google for Vintage or Antique bicycles. I doubt they're worth much, but someone that restores pre 1950's roadster type bicycles might take them off your hands.

They're the kind of thing people on Rad Rod Bikes would consider a score.

No they wouldn't!

The pedals are quite easy to come by. The rubbers are bits a restorer would look at, and on these they are not good. Someone who used a roadster to go to work would be happy to use them, but they wouldn't pay money for them.

And as for single pedals, just see who will buy one. Who wants one pedal?

Sorry to sound harsh, but there you go. Just because something is old, doesn't mean it's any good.

Use a file to re-dress the rubber,,wet and dry to spruce up the steel and wire wool on the chrome.
In a few hours they'll be good as new :D
But still useless.

No sorry  .Renovate them if you've a mind to and somewhere like the Raleigh forum.you should have more luck there.

I own and am renovating a Rudge Whitworth and i believe its the supreme model  1948 ,its already in superb condition as it was stored for 50 or 60yrs in a dry cellar ,lots of spotting from dust [so there was some moisture in the air]on the paint and chrome but it will polish out im sure, then the electrics and wheels. The wheels need the tarnish removed but again im sure it will polish out no problem.
  Sorry going off there

I wasn't entirely serious, Chris.
