Google Map --> http://goo.gl/maps/YpDbO (This centres on Colourserve Ltd who are next door - the arrow shows where to park)
There is ample free parking, toilets, coffee and changing facilities available. The workshop will also be open for any last minute bike tweaking.
:: Detailed directions here: http://www.rideandrepair.co.uk/downloads/directions.pdf
:: Terrain: Quiet country lanes, with a decent bit of climbing thrown in.
:: Route: Leaving Macclesfield we'll take on the classic road climb to the Cat and Fiddle which, at an altitude of 515m (1689ft), is the second highest pub in England.
We'll then head over into Derbyshire and Axe Edge Moor and drop slightly to Flash which at an altitude 463 metres (1,519 ft) above sea level claims to be the highest village in Britain. We'll continue further into the beautiful Staffordshire Moorland across Goldsitch Moss and on to Morridge.
The route takes in a fantastic long open descent down to Longnor for a food stop at the 20 mile point.
Then we'll head into the centre of the historic spa town of Buxton to refill water bottles at the famous St Anne's well, just before the ominously named Long Hill, a steady climb that takes us north west out of the town.
Dropping down a very fast descent into the Goyt Valley we'll wind our way past the reservoir back up towards the Cat and Fiddle. Before we reach the top we'll turn, crossing the earlier route to pick up the long drop and fantastic scenery towards Leek on the A54.
Another short final climb out of Algreave takes us to a great ridge ride down past the Hanging Gate with views of Shutlingsloe aka 'The Matterhorn of Macclesfield'. It's all downhill back to the start point here for some post ride refreshments.
This route may be altered slightly depending on weather conditions etc...
The ride will be taken at a reasonably gentle pace and there are several short cut and bail out options should they be required.
Be aware that there are a few short steep climbs here and there so perhaps that 42-23 bottom gear might make things a bit harsh on your knees.
If you fancy it, get signed up.
