I frequently buy knock offs if I think the price of the original is unreasonable, sometimes you get gems, mostly shite. I have some Chinese staples that I use on most of my bikes. Also, not all copies are infringing 'knock offs' imho, some are improvement of design or a good design made affordable. Like I have Paul's Motolite, finicky and scratches up in minutes. Got a PRG Motolite inspired set, which have several features that are improved, and the coating doesn't scratch.
