Pace rc35 elastomer help

Dirt Disciple
Hi Guys,
I received my elastomer kit today from pace, A/B fork and I have the light brown 6 elastomer kit. When I assembled the fork I couldn't get the bolts any where near the stantions even when pressing down hard, I then put the old rebound elastomer in as they are shorter than the new ones and just managed to get the bolt to hook up, they now seem quite stiff like there is too much preload. Am I supposed to trim the elastomer to length, didn't think I should as they were £42 for a few bits of rubber tube!

Re:

I had the same problem with a set I bought along time ago, ended up chopping them down
worked fine, but not what I expected to have to do.

Last lot were fine, and thanked my lucky stars I fitted them before considering chopping a few mm's off

Re:

I recall the same issue/scenario. It was hard work, but I did get them all bolted in. You could try using a mixture of the old and new elastomers, assuming the old ones are still usable? They will have shrunk a bit so might give you the space needed to tighten the bolts.

Re:

Put wheels in and took it off the stand, virtually no movement at all. Pace aren't answering their phone today so looks like I'll be taking a sharp implement to them tomorrow as I'm using it for Mayhem!

Re:

I may be asking a silly question, but are you putting all the elastomers, including the short ones inside the legs? Been a while since I had mine, but did the short ones fit in the drop out section behind the port plugs rather than inside? Just a thought, you probably know how they go back together, and my memory is rusty.

Re:

Are you sure you got all the old ones out? I had to dig must out of the legs as I had the same issue as yourself. I too was miffed I had bought elastomer that did not fit only to find disintegrated elastomer still in my forks, both d top legs and rebound.
