Ow much...

Yes! This brings back memories. The Tomahawk that I learnt to ride on was a scaled down version of a Chopper, tiny front wheel and as mentioned above, an absolute wheelie machine! The front wheel had no interest in being in contact with the ground. This Chipper thing looks more like a Grifter.
Nah, the Grifter had same size wheels, the mini version of the Grifter was the Striker.

And the Grifter frame was inspired by the Chopper, they just flipped it upside down (OK, not quite) as the twin spar top tube on the Chopper moved to the down tube and the large down tube moved to the top tube... and also Chippers fork was used as the frame on a Chippy (the smallest of all the Chopper-style bikes) They just laid them on their side! Lots of common components on the Raleigh range, but this is the same for any large producer of with a range of different products.

Got one hanging up in my garage. I used to be the fanzine editor of the Hot One for the International Raleigh Chopper Owners Club (IRCOC) back in the late 90s so have a soft spot for late 60s/70s/early 80s Raleighs and have been lucky enough to have met both Tom Karen (Ogle Designs) and Alan Oakley (Head of design for Raleigh) who both helped shape the Chopper concept... Choppers Out!

You say the bike was a deathtrap...
Well actually i say it was a death trap, but the actual wording of that came from the police. The bike got nicked from the driveway by a couple of football suporters en route to Hamden stadium a few months later, and with so many cops about at the time we immediately informed them. They got it back but said they were going to retain it because in their eyes it was a death trap
