The Chipper was a baby Chopper. The Tomahawk was a different baby Chopper. Despite being described as 'restored', the Chipper in the advert looks pretty rough.

Yes! This brings back memories. The Tomahawk that I learnt to ride on was a scaled down version of a Chopper, tiny front wheel and as mentioned above, an absolute wheelie machine! The front wheel had no interest in being in contact with the ground. This Chipper thing looks more like a Grifter.

Yes! This brings back memories. The Tomahawk that I learnt to ride on was a scaled down version of a Chopper, tiny front wheel and as mentioned above, an absolute wheelie machine! The front wheel had no interest in being in contact with the ground. This Chipper thing looks more like a Grifter.

Best for wheelies was the Budgie. Now that’s a proper wheelie machine. I customised Chopper (now called the Drag-Chop) with a 26” rear wheel and a Budgie front wheel (11”)!!!

I'd one of those as a kid, bloody deathtrap.

Took a 6' dropoff completely by accident.
Was cycling through a shopping precinct in Glasgow in the mid 70's. I was probably aged about 8 at the time. One of those brutalist type outdoor ones. A series of ramps with staircases alongside them running through it.
First there was a ramp, i went down the ramp at speed
Next was another ramp, and i went down that one too at speed.
The third ramp wasn't a ramp, it was a frigging staircase of course i didnt realize that till i flew off the frigging top
Landed, bounced and came a cropper. I'd no brakes on it anyhow, so even if i realized i couldn't have stopped, and probably for the better because at least i cleared the stairs. Lucky i wasnt badly injured now thinking back on it.

Now let's analyze this story...

You say the bike was a deathtrap... Then you admit there were no bakes on it, is that the bikes fault? Also did the bike decide to ride at speed down and unknown slope? Lastly you admit the bike cleared the steps and obviously survived... So is it really the bikes fault or was it an over zealous 8 year old dyna-ti to blame?

Glad you survived and avoided major injury.

No bakes on it? I'm not sure a Greg's sausage roll would have cushioned the landing much Perhaps if taped to the top of the stem it might have offered some protection during the inevitable bollock-stem collision.
