Original Stumpjumper value?

A friend has an original Specialized Stumpjumper (pic attached) and wonders whether it is worth keeping for occasional use o, if it is of sufficient value to be worth moving it on. She believes it is circa 1987.
If anyone can help with even a rough idea of the value that would be much appreciated.

I bought a fairly original one of these for about £100, looked similar condition.
If the tyres are original and not rotted out, they could add to the value here.

They're nice little bikes - not especially collectable, but practical and upgradeable. If it fits your friend, I'd suggest she keep it as a runabout.

The only really non-original item on this bike is the rear rim. Do you feel an original spec item can still be found?

An original wheel could almost certainly be found but you might need to be both patient and vigilant to find one. If the bike is to be sold, it's not worth it: more would be spent on the wheel than would be added to the price the bike would get when sold. If getting an original wheel is part of an attempt to restore the bike to its original state, that's a different matter. However, if that's the case, there is more that is not original: the stem, possibly the chainset, and I'm not sure that the front wheel is original either, although it looks more like it's from the same era. There might be other items too.

BTW: usernames are in bold, next to posts. The 'Old School Grand Master' etc. is some sort of recognition of post count added by Retrobike.

I'd keep it if only riding occasionally as it's clearly already been adapted to suit (the higher stem) and there's no point selling it on for £100 only to buy another lesser bike. But do consider replacing the tyres - especially if they have substantial cracking.
