Orange Frames

Dirt Disciple
Hi I have two Orange frames. One P7 in mandarin & a green C16-R.

To me they look roughly the same age approx 96/7. I have checked all the archived catalogues and cannot find a corresponding image(s).

Can anyone help with the age?

I have a frame no for the C16-R (A606001159) but canna find one on the P7.

I'm not an expert, but I have the same C16 as that and I think it's a 95. I think the beautiful P7 is a 97.

Doesn't the C16 have a rear canti-stop which the P7 lacks, indicating the P7 is later?

C16R is a 1996 frame going by the serial number and I'd go for 1998 for the P7 judging by the decals.

cheers guys!

I wanted to find the corresponding image just so i could have seen it in it's
former glory.

The closest c16-r i can find has those shiney decals, anyway.
Cherry bomb i think it makes it an june model as well going from a former post of yours.

Orange seem to do thinks different as opposed to producing a standard model all year. As I can't find any bike (of that era) with metal badges like the p7 or in mandarin.

I love them both, can't wait to ride the C16-R.

I know very little about the 'modern' Oranges (aka Cxxx & Pxxx) ;)
But the rear facing seatclamp put the P in the 94 to 98 and the C in the 95 to 97 (from orangebikes FAQ)

On closer inspection, the seat clamps should be forward facing, they are just on the wrong way around (the slot is at the front.) ?

that would put the
P7 in the '98 to '05 years and the (you'll have a 29.6 seatpost)
It what is mentioned in the post above and it looks like there are no disc tabs then its 1998

It would put the
C16 in the 97 or 98 year, same 29.6 seatpost.
the last year afaik of the C's before they went back to the clockwork naming.

http://www.orangebikes.co.uk/main/techfaqs.php#table

C16-R is 1996/1997
P7 is 1998

I am looking at the brochures in front of me and would put my own Clockwork on the line I am that sure! ;)

I have now turned the seat clamp the right way round!
and there are no discs tabs on either bike.

Question?
I don't know if any one knows, but I got the p7 of flea bay.
Is the frame engineered to have sus forks. I am confident they are
not the originals and what would be the ideal pair of modern forks?

The P7 frame will be designed for a 60mm fork. I wouldn't fit anything much taller than that.
It would have had an F8 rigid fork as standard but suspension options would have been....if it's a 98 then Rockshox, 99 would be Manitou (but my money's on it being 9:cool: or a Pace RC36 as the top option for either year.

EDIT:.......and that's not an original fork I don't think (if it's a Rockshox), it would be V brake only by 98.
