Ok so….
Picked it up from a very pleasant chap and I spotted an old road bike from afar. Looks like he had this for commuting.
The bike is really nicely put together but does need a little bit of attention.
The bad bits
Chainset - later xt, ratios are odd, middle ring is 36/38 and the big ring is only 42/44 (I didn’t have time to check specifics) top ring is also fudged. Constantly skipping under any force :-/
Front brake - hope minis there’s a goose trapped in there and the lever doesn’t return nicely.
Pedals - egg beaters are well beaten. Bearings collapsed.
Tyres - well past their best cracks and fraying sidewalls.
The good bits
Exotic carbon forks, love these very nice
Crank brothers cobalt wheels
Frame is a size is 19 but doesn’t feel big
Easton bar stem and seatpost is all nice lightweight kit
Hope headset
Climbs well just a shame the engine is clapped out
)
Conclusion
All that said it rides lovely on the flat gravelly stuff, very light and accelerates nimbly. I ventured down some of the peaslake trails, To be honest it was a bit too technical and bumpy for my skill level on an unfamiliar bike but I survived. If this stays it’s going to be gravelly biased.
