Orange Clockwork seatpost size?

Hiya,

I'm a bit confused by my Orange Clockwork. I have a 1993 which is listed as having a 26.8mm internal seattube diameter:
http://www.orangebikes.co.uk/support/faqs/

Having bought a seatpost in that size though, I find it doesn't fit! It's too wide and I don't think I'd want to try and force it.

So, now I'm just wondering what size other Clockwork owners are running - and given mine isn't as stated on the Orange site does that mean I have a different year? Is there anyway to tell from the serial number?

Any insight into this would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

T.

I've had exactly the problem with that Orange site - said my seatpost was a 27.2 for my P7 when it's actually a 26.4.
Have a look through the site here, I'm sure that there are earlier discussions!

Really? That's pretty bad :\

I had a look around here but to be honest I've seen several different widths being promoted; wondering if Orange was still experimenting with different tubes at the time?

Anyway, I've just bought a thing for measuring the internal diameter:

Hopefully will do the trick, won't make this mistake again :) now I have a 26.8mm Thomson Elite to return!

Ovalising of the seat tube from weld distortion causes small differences - a smaller post by 0.2mm is not so uncommon.

Re:

Ahh well - I'll be able to order the right size for sure once I measure the diameter. I guess I'm partly annoyed with myself for getting the seatpost before the tool.

I am though glad that I even managed to find a new seatpost at those diameters!

Great - I'll do that later.

Out of interest (I've wondered this for a while now), is the MIA in your signature what I think it is? Stolen?

Re:

Nah, just bikes I've had that I don't have a thread for. I've been lucky so far with my bikes not getting nicked (touches wood).
