Well brock, that sorts it then. Thanks for clearing it up. However, I'm not too sure if I like the spaced out "Orange" on the down tube, as it doesn't match the rest of "Orange" logos on the bike. But I do like the spaced out Clockwork on the top tube. I've asked Gil if it's possible to do a set of decals with both versions of the "Orange" for the down tube, one set spaced out and the other normal, whilst I try and make my mind up.
In the mean time, back to the matter in hand, the 1992 Clockwork. Got busy on Sunday and stripped it down and gave it a clean in the bath, ready for decal removal, sanding, painting etc.
A nice bit of original orange on the forks for colour matching. The embossed numbers are "A-PRC 92", with "CR-MO" underneath
After I'd washed off all the crud, it was posible to see the wear, tear and solarisation on the tubes which revealed the original paint process; light grey primer and orange throughout, with the white applied later.
I've made a note of the positioning of the decals before I begin removing them. Thought I'd share the info for future reference.
I'll be getting the heat gun out soon, and peeling off the old decals.
And once the bottom bracket tool arrives, that I've just had to buy off eBay because I can't find mine anywhere, I'll be removing the bottom bracket. It feels a bit dry when spun by hand, so hopefully will just need a clean out and some fresh grease.
Now that it's stripped down, I've made a list of parts I need. Any ideas of what/where's best, please let me know:
Shimano LX pedals
Shimano chain stay guard
Headset bearings
Cables (all of them)
Cheers,
fred
