I've made some tweaks and cleaned it up a bit more. I think it's much improved, and we're down from 14.4 to 13kg. It's still no lightweight, but for a knockabout bike I'm really liking it. Quite happy to have this as my rough and ready rider and keep the C16R/Clockwork as my "special" sunny day bikes.
So it's had new (old) tyres, an LX chainset, and an STX front mech to match the rear. Adjusted the back hub (cone lock nuts ALWAYS seem to work loose on cheap wheels). Plus a new chain and cassette. Oh and I changed the steerer spacers and stem as I thought black would look better. Not sure now though, and it's probably a bit too squeezed up and upright all things considered.
Fairly happy to press this into service now, and maybe do some tweaks to the C16R.
