Good evening all :)

Someone please have a word with me, heart-ruling-head will be my downfall, I tell you.
Saw this advertised locally (10 minutes from baj's house), so went to view it. Ended up buying two bikes and making an excellent new contact.
To be honest after looking at it properly in my den i'm proper nervous about this. Where on earth do I get the parts from ?

I need a lie down.

Re: Oops, I did it again ! 1930's ? Raleigh Superbe.

 wow!
That’s awesome, I like that, might be a case of strip-clean/refurb-refit rather than buying parts!

Got to love rod brakes, used to do my paper round on a bike with rod brakes :)

The date should be on the rear hub I can see 56?
Police bikes were 24 inch frame 28 inch wheel bolt up stay roadsters.
If it has the octagonal headset then post 1948

Re:

I'm trying to find information on the BB sizes to see if I can source a complete unit. I can get a cottered axle with OAL 137mm but I dont know if it'll fit.
I'm looking on Sheldon Brown's site at the moment.

Update : It could be me being blind but I can't find any info on dimensions of the BB. More digging needed methinks.

Any luck ? You could email Stephen Perkins who used to be product manager at Raleigh SPD / RSP @bikemeister2000

This might help, it's from the 1965 parts list but yours will be the same BB cups.
Choice of BB axle will perhaps need to be measured but you will need one with gear case clearance , i.e. longer right hand end to go through the chain (gear) case.
