This wasn’t getting the use it deserves, so up for sale.
Really nice original condition, original decals (obviously showing signs of age) and titanium never refinished (therefore not perfect but pretty much ‘as intended’.
There was the odd paint ‘splat’ as the original owner kept it in the garage around diy materials! I’ve removed most of these.
Did also have self adhesive mudguard attachments, but I’ve got most of the sticky residue off.
Sizes:
Headtube 168mm
Seat tube 580mm c-c and 610 c-t
Top tube 570 c-c
1” headset
27.2 seatpost
31.8 seatclamp required
130mm rear spacing
Threaded bsa bottom bracket which looks to have been champhered for a Mavic bb but worked fine with a traditional threaded one.
I bought this from the first owner who used it for some credit card touring and rode on several continents, as he travelled a lot.
No dents, cracks, welds are things of beauty as are the bullet-end seat stays.
Great complement to a Hei Hei if you are lucky enough to have one!
The original steel forks were heavy and had a bit of surface rust - as I replaced these with Columbus Minimal full carbon immediately, the steel forks were sold to someone of this parish who needed them for a unicorn project. With the carbon fork this built into a sub-8kg bike.
Can include this 1” Columbus forks at an advantageous price if the buyer wants. 246mm steerer. Similarly can include Thomson seat binder in black.
Built photo just for reference.
Size-wise, this isn’t quite as big as the ‘59’ suggests, with the 57cm top tube (c-c). I rode it happily with a 76cm saddle height as 5’11”. But for me, I would have preferred a slightly shorter seat tube just for aesthetics!
Had some various thoughts on pricing. I’m going to start where a good Merlin-type US built vintage frame might sit. This must be rarer and Kona has great brand recognition.
Frame only reduced: £550.
Columbus fork and seatclamp negotiable on top. UK collection (Bournemouth) preferred, but I will pack and post at buyers cost, only fully insured. UK only initially, as customs and international shipping such a stress.
