On balance, I still am not a fan of e-bikes (previously known as ‘I just don’t get E bikes’)

So true, it's hard to believe people are so blinkered and hostile about something that if they are a cyclist will probably end up riding in the future either through age/fitness or illness.

And when I do choose to ride a ebike I’ll openly admit it down to age/fitness or illness.

I’ve zero issue with e-bikes as mentioned many times. If ridden correctly and not doing 30’mph etc they are great for people who need them.

Does every Ebike sold come with a book of excuses why you ride a ebike 😜 ?

I’ve no doubt he does. He has also admitted that he’s out of shape and riding normal bikes isn’t fun for him. Exactly like i said prior about my mates. I’ve no doubt he has masses of fun as he’s a decent motorbike rider too. But alongside being paid , hes never been a fan of pedalling.

Let’s be honest … there’s only 1 reason why you’d have a motor on a pedal cycle and that’s because you aren’t capable to pedal a normal bike at the speed you would like. Either fitness or disability related. That’s it. That’s the reason. Very few Ebikers admit it , but there’s simply no other reason why they were designed.

It’s all the excuses that ebikers come out with which is laughable. “I only have it on the lowest setting” , “I ride twice as far and twice as fast as you”, “it’s more fun as I get more laps” 😂
It really just sounds like you want an argument. I've never liked pedalling, but I've been riding bikes for a very long time. Downhill racing gave me a reason to carry on racing mountain bikes without the tediousness of cross country laps. It's the fast fun stuff I enjoy. Ebikes flatten climbs and turn the flats into downhill runs. It's faster so, to me, it's more fun.
I accept that some people enjoy hard climbs, some people enjoy road riding too, each to there own.
At the end of the day it's just bikes, different people like different bikes, knowbody is ever going to force you to have an ebike.

On a thread called “I just don’t get e-bikes” is my view such a suprise?

I’ll say it again… I’ve no issue with e-bikes. I’ll own one when I have too. I just think it’s comical that very little of their owners will acknowledge lack of ability/fitness as the reason they own them.

I’ve an issue with them being ridden by 50 something aged men in lumo enduro gear along paths /trails at 30mph as they’ve de restricted them. They even give you a smug little grin as they power past like they’ve “won”. Then there’s the balaclava lot on electric motorcycles

Ok, I understand now, you really don't get it. So the thread should stop now as we all realise that you never will either. You have your opinion and that's the end of it. I'll say no more on the matter.
