Olmo Giro bike frame...how good???

Hi, I'm looking for some help here. I have the chance to buy an Olmo Giro frame. It's made from deddacai tubing and is lugged. The problem is I don't really know anything about these frames . Is it any good???? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

These are really nice frames in my opinion. They ride nicely and are quality built.
As long as its at a price your happy with then go for it, I doubt you would be dissapointed. I recently sold one I had as it was slightly too big but it was a great frame.

from (vague) memory, its poss my mate had a giro. is it purple & white fade? (sorry if youve posted a pic, this works pc blocks some pics)
If it is the same, it was their low end budget models. Decent paintwork, lugs and chrome, but heavier tubing. Made a good winter steed, but not a racer.

Giro

My Giro was blue and yellow and while lugged and a decent build it was the heavier model Deda tubing. Depends what you want to race in I suppose but yeah by modern standards its definately a solid winter trainer.

If the price is right buy it. I've had one for 5 years, done thousands of mile's, and despite, having lighter and flasher bikes, nothing is as comfortable as my Olmo.

Olmo Giro, to buy or not to buy???

Thanks guys. I've got a Vitus 979 with Shimano 600 and Mavic Open Pros which has developed a nasty crack at the top of the seat tube and it's only a matter of time. I love the ride of the bike but I couldn't go through the worry of another and the possibility of it failing too, hence the Olmo. I have a pic of the same frame that I'm talking about here. I'm really looking for something that is fun to use and means I can use the gear off the Vitus. I had considered a new Surly Pacer but those are expensive and I don't really know much about them either. Incidentally , the Olmo is selling for £150 f&f. Is that good?

Looks very clean, i'd still want the frame and fork, for less. A NOS, frame and fork went for £120 the other week on e-bay........

I had an Olmo Giro for about 7 years (2004 - 2011). Whilst it was a bit heavy (2280g for the 54cm c-t frame; 800g for the fork) it was a decent winter bike. Very strong frames.

I ended up selling it to a forum user in a weak moment.

Hi buddy IMHO £150 is twice what's its worth. I had 1 for a while but it was too small. It cost me £27 and was a NOS frame. Rode it for a while, and like the other lads say, "it was a very nice ride" You can do much much better for £150 these days. Post a wanted ad in the "wanted section" and I'm sure many of the good lads in here will sell you 1. A chap called Tel was selling a beautiful Red frame for £100 the other day. It needed a paint job, but if you're handy with a rattle can thats only £25, job done.

Anywhere between £150-£200 will buy you a seriously good frame buddy, so best of luck, yours Laz.

PS: I have a 531c Raleigh due to hit the sales stand anytime soon with Campagnolo BB & Headset fitted for around the £150 to your door mark. Not a sales push, but a good guide as to what £150 buys

Yes, you did , I'm just about ready to build it now using a Mirage 10 speed groupset I've been putting together. That'll make three Olmos I have, well two and bit as my 13 year old son has found that the Competition just about fits him and he's stll growing. Great frames, the fluted tubing model I have remains my favourite steed.
