OK, a vintage Gitane project.

VintageGitane

Retro Newbie
Bought it on Ebay. From the UK. A 1980 'top of the line' frame. The Shimano DURA ACE EX 7200 version was named Trophée, the Campagnolo RECORD version Olympic. This one has a white G at the front. Was only used on 1980-bikes.

Yes and no. I will go for the 'original' Shimano Dura Ace EX 7200 group again. Stem and handlebar will be Cinelli. (C1R/Record and campione del Mondo.) Wheels (black) Mavic GP4. Seat: Concor Supercorsa van San Marco.

white headtube decal

Very nice bike you have built there!

Thanks for pointing out the white headtube decal! I did not notice that before. My Profil is also from 1980 and thus needs a white decal as well (it currently has the later yellow and black decals fitted).

I got the information about the white G from gitaneusa.com
Another bike I bought from the first owner also has the white G. The man said he bought the bike in 1982. So it could be that the white G is linked to the production year 1980. See the French 1980 catalogue.
