Nike Air Max classic BW.

I did go through a time of buying used ones of stuff I really liked, but a great many of them I owned from new.
Basically any Nike from 86-93 will be unwearable so you can only collect them, the rest in theory are all wearable.
Pretty much been into shoes since forever, I'd buy them and wear them till they got pretty worn, then rotate in a new pair and the old ones would add to the "collection".

Actually looking at that pic, I think there are 5 pairs that I bought 2nd hand that had been previously worn. There are a pile that I bought as NOS 2nd hand though

As long as it doesn't smell of cheese in that room
86-93 unwearable, do you mean you wouldn't want to wear them because you want to keep them unused?

No, I'm not a collector in that way, I'dwear em no worries (i do have a few pairs I haven't worn, but only because I haven't gotten around to it yet).
Na it's the PU (polyurathane) that Nike used in that time. It goes off and dissintegrates. In favt wearing them make them more wearable. EG if you had a pair of original BW, or even a pair from the early 2000s, that had never been worn, take them out the box and put them on and wear them, there is 98% chance the midsole will break apart and leave the sole behind after 2 steps.

But it depends on the midsole, PU will be bad, after 92ish they changed the makeup, my air max 93's were fine and my 84 airships are quite wearable (the airbag inside may be shot) and so are my '86 air force II's (cupsole vs full PU midsule used from 88 on in balling shoes).
Other manufacturers have the same uissue, NB also used lots of PU in the Encap midsoles, same deal, but their Cap soles are fine (EVA not PU)

EG...new in box

I trhink the first retro of the Persians was in 03 (after the origianl in 91, BW were in constant release from 91 till then though), then the second time on 05 for the powerwall thingmy, then again in 08 I think, and maybe one more time before the latest release last year. Thats an approximation, I was all about the air 180 and air max III (90)

Yeah, right, trying to think how long had them.
Gen2's aren't as nice.
Do like 90 and 180 but always had Classics.

Re:

Nice collection Ted, I spy some Safari 87's; I have reissue pair from 2003ish. ACG Wildwoods were my favourite, and AM90 infrared and laser blue (though I think there was an dark green/blue version (may have been a women's colorway, but not concorde) which I wanted at the time but I've never seen reissued). A habit which can suck up cash nearly as well as old bikes!!

Yeah I have 2 pairs of safari reissues from 2003, there was a whole bunch of us on the crooked tongues website that jumped up and down to get them released, those and air 180's (I'll take the credit, but I was jsut a voice). Would love some originals...but they are mega dollars and completly unwearable.

original airm max 90's were infrared, lazer blue and then green for the mens (famous as a steve monegetti poster) and pink blue and, pink navy for the womens

Slowed down a lot in the last few years, so far this year only bought some air command forces (which ironically were locally $380AU in '91, but were $250AU now) and soem air force 1's, sice I couldn't get and air jordan one's last month boooooooooooooooooooooooo. But yeah can be expensive, last year I picked up some airships cost me so close to 1K makes no difference, but they are in such good condition and I know they are wearable as I already had a pair, but these ones fit better (only 1/2 size bigger, but much better)
