My tribute to the two best bike shops in Newcastle and yes i'm biased :D
This is something i've been looking forward to building for a while now,my Dentons Cycles.
This shop was what first got me into mountain biking in the late eighties,so to finally have one of there own creations is special for me. With having a bit of time today i was able to give it clean and start the build. The frames in excellent condition and just needs some little bits touched up,which i'll sort out over the course of the build. I've used all the nos Deore DX parts off my 90 Lavadome i sold and added a nos Deore XT front mech and nos Deore ll short cage rear mech. Basically i want as much new parts as possible on this bike saying it's a keeper. Not sure at the moment what pedals to go for but they'll have to be in mint condition  So in the meantime i'll start getting the cables sorted and everything set up while i hum and har over what pedals to use. Any suggestions,i don't use clipless pedals because they give me nightmares :D

mmmm, nice, I like them both, especially the colours, I wonder which frame builder built that particular Denton.

Cheers,on the Yates the previous owner must of liked the look of the original Donkis and specced the same colour, must of cost them a fortune.
The black and silver parts really set the blue off on the Denton for me,the stickers look really good because they went with dark blue instead of black. As for who built it,it seems they used a Marin frame and forks because the rear drop outs are stamped Marin. One of the old mechanic's has been allowed to carry the Denton name and logo on with his work,so i'll be sending him an email to see if he has any info or remembers anything about the bikes they done.

I was a regular there and they both knew their stuff and usually stocked or could source whatever you wanted.

Aye they were on the ball for the latest mountain bike stuff and all the latest bikes. Denton's was where i first got to see my first Joe Murray designed bikes, the 88 Marin Pine Mountain then the 89 splatter paint Kona Explosif, every weekend i was at the shop to look them.

weren't the marin stays called after burner or something, I much prefer the blue than the Marin finish for sure...!

Looking forward to seeing what you do with the Diablo as well, they ride really well.

Re:

Love the Denton :xmas-cool:

It actually looks custom made for me - sizing, geometry, head tube size etc would fit me a treat !!

Is it just a re-sprayed Marin then?
My Fleet Engineers is just a (very badly) painted Carrera, with their companies logo painted on.
