New man on site with his GT Fury and Cinelli Supercorsa

Making my first post to the forum. Be Gentle

I stumbled across this retro site last week and I like it !
Just what i have been looking for as a man that misses the old steel bikes he had when he was young ( Nishiki Racing Master/Tange 5 and a Colnago SL ). I have modern bikes too, but they just do not have the same feel and soul to them.

For my own Retro-start up i have aquired a GT Fury with Campagnolo Chorus. It had only 368km on the odometer since 1998 and has been sitting still since.

Unfortunately the Fury is way to small for my own 6"2 frame, so the parts will be migrated to my Cinelli Supercorsa 1996 and a Cervelo Superprodigy steel frame when i get around to disassemble it.

It seems like GT's are well liked here ? It is a very nice frame for sure.

Thanks. It looks like a good place to be in

The Cinelli is a work in progress. I intend to take it back in time with more suitable components, but here it is assembled with what-ever i had in the big componentbox at the time :

Right now it lives as a singlespeed, but i have a old Dura-Ace 70's derailleur and DA singlepivot brakes that will go on it soon. Or if i can find a old Campy Record group in trade for the GT frame it would be even better.

to be quite honest i thought i would hate the gt and just came to look @ the cinelli

but i quite like it

i like the cinelli, too, what tubing does it feature?

It is unfortunatly not SLX tubing, but one of the newer frames with Columbus Neuron. It is probably a better frame for it, but SLX would have been more classic.

I bought it new from a shop nearby that had received a stock of Cinelli frames just around the time that steel went out of fashion around 1998 or so, the frame is probably a 96-97 model. So i got a very good deal on it after it had been hanging on the wall for 5 years.

haha i just brought up slx because you had prior mentioned the SL tubing you recall as a child (i think the slx just had more "helical reinforcements")

The neuron is high quality tubing anyways, so im quite sure its at least as good?

The more modern steel of the cinelli probably rides much better though? I wouldnt know because the newest road bicycle ive ridden is from like 1989 or 1990

i just got one from 1997 but i wont ride that for a long long time (too broke to build it up )

Well, yes. I have not tried the SLX version, but this one rides remarkably well. Very stiff in the BB and very responsibe when applying torque to the pedals - but the headtube is still quite flexible, not a bike for a full standing sprint........
