Mystery abused bike Leatherhead

Must admit this would tempt me if local, 40 minutes away for me, just to find out what it might be!
Certainly a project!
My guess may be a 1990 KHS, seatstay bridge not curved as a Diamondback

Matt black is usual crims colour of choice, bike seems to have mixed 90's parts.
