my stolen san an seems to have turned up......what to do?

you could goto the police, or go and ask the seller if you can come and view the bike.
that way you will know for certain if its yours,if it is you can ask the seller how long hes had it/any history eg ask about the rear swingarm patches how they got there/why etc.
if the answers are not good enough then your in the right place to dish out some 'social justice.'

the bike was sold last month......and i did that when my zaskar was stolen. i put a bid of £20,000 on to make sure i won, informing the police all the way, even when i went to collect it......none showed up as they were too busy.

Contact the police. The fact that soon with your bike there are a lot of other high end bike parts passing through the sellers hands may pique their interest. What have you got to lose? Did you report the theft a the time? Even though they have sold it, where it is now is traceable through eBay anyway so you might get it back, and a bike fence may get what they deserve. Or it could all be legit, but if you don't do anything you will never know. Maybe this time the police may show up??

Was it your zaskar that you bought back for £20,000 btw? As the police did t show, did you simply walk away with it, or did something else transpire?

yeah....it wasn't mine, but the seller understood and said he would have done the same......but it could have been mine and the bloke could have been a nutter!! so would have been nice to have a bit of police support!
san an is now reported......there is a specialist unit set up this month dealing with internet theft and fraud working out of london.....they're on it :D :D

Good to know! I hope you get a result. Do keep us updated. Maybe we could set up an Internet tv show a bit like that old cilla black one that reunited people with long lost relatives, but for bikes. I'd love to get my old giant back, and my Peugeot road bike, but they are 18 years gone now.

Please keep the thread updated with the outcome. It may be usefull for others who find themselves in a similar situation.

And good luck in getting your bike back. ;)

just reported it to the fraud online dept using thier internet form, although at the end, they state "not every fraud can be investigated"!!!!
if you see anything stolen on ebay, go to
www.actionfraud.police.uk

did anyone on here buy my san an?
