Here is my 1982 Columbia made in Worksop. I've been in touch recently with Dave Marsh of http://www.universalcyclecentre.co.uk/ in Rotherham who worked for Carlton Cycles and was one of a group of ex-Carlton guys who built the frame. Jerry Mortimore who runs the http://www.carltoncycles.me.uk/history/closure.htm web site put me onto him. I've recently got it back from my dad's basement where it has been stored for the last 10 years or so. As it has Suntour rear dropouts i decided to go down the Suntour route with derailleurs: aRx front Vx rear and Powershift stem shifters. I would like to get some barcons at some stage though to feel safer. As you can see I got it from H.O. Smith and Sons of Doncaster (no longer trading since Bob Read the owner died in the '90's).
