MY 1994 MARIN BEAR VALLEY SE

I thought that the stem had been lowered a bunch.
Turns out these stems are really short.
The cables have rubbed the the Logic logo on the headset.
There are plastic film circles on the headtube but the cables don't stay there.

I might upgrade to suspension forks.
The stem is a 25.4 so that should be a 1 1/8" headtube.
Easy upgrade.
Crap. Just sold a set of Marzocchi coated EXR 100mm forks.
Or if only I had kept those Junior T's.
But I do have a set of black EXR pro forks.
Not sure how well they will clean up though.
But then I could put a riser stem on it.
And wider bars, although they would probably be 31.8, but I don't have a problem with that.
There are Ritchey headsets that will give me the stop I need to keep the STX SE cantilever brakes on the forks.
Other option is to find a quill type Ritchey stem that is longer than the Marin.
But in 1 1/8"? Hmmmm.....

Who knows what tomorrow will bring........

I didn't even take off the plastic chain shield.
I always do.
But then they are usually yellow and cracking.
This one cleaned up well enough to leave it on.

Re:

So.......didn't get the tires I was planning on.
Found a pair of NOS still in the box Specialized Umma Gumma tires.
1 Pro Control/S and 1 More Extreme/S - 26 X 1.95.
(came with 1.90 Vee Rubber when I bought it - these look way bigger)
I also went back to the stock pedals.
Since the tires are circa 1994, I thought why not.

Still going to tone down the grips with a set of Ritchey's that have black lettering.
Can't wait to get a different saddle as this Schwinn is driving me crazy.
Just having a hard time spending the money on a new Ritchey, which means I will have given up on finding an old one, or heaven forbid - a Marin Lite one.

Re:

That's a great looking Bear Valley, I would love to find one in that condition. The decals have a habit of coming off on these...

Enjoy :D

Thanks.
I will have to do something about the missing decals.
Head tube badge is #1.
Top frame tube logo is next though I doubt I would replace the US flag.
Probably Thailand or Canada.
Shouldn't be a big deal to have them made up if I can't find some that someone remembers they have....
