My 1990 Rocky Mountain Blizzard

Have to agree, what happened to the Syncros Revs? Unless of course you've gotten yourself another RM that you plan to put them on! ;)

Seems a tad too black heavy, perhaps some silver rings instead?

I started to return all bikes into straight group builds, rather than picking the odd expensive (and most less reliable) bling-bling part. Hence i sold the Revos and put the XT.

I might return to the complete original built at some point, as i like it a lot too.

no shame in making it a more catalogue build if that's what you fancy. but i did like how you original had it built.

Me too - I love the look of syncros bits on an old RM. The current build looks pretty sweet too. I'd love to see it with a polished seat post.

I like the black XT better actually. The Revos have cache but the XT is the better crank IMHO. Same goes for cook bros, kooka, race face and all the other aftermarket blink. Shimano cranks are always better, good metalurgy, good looks and reasonable weight. Look at Dura-ace. Still the best crank on the market, still aluminum. Same with current MTB cranks, hollow aluminum. Race Face looks bad ass but give me a shimano crank for light weight and reliability.

Always enjoy your builds, agree with your straight build comment. The bling is nice to look at but usually less than reliable.
