Mutts Nuts - what am I?

Man Beast

Retro Newbie
Hi there all, I acquired this bike through a mutual friend that wanted shot of it and knew I was into bikes so I took it off his hands. Not having much knowledge regarding old school stuff having only been riding since 2004 this was still rather left of field!

Mental suspension system, looks like a one off / custom effort. Would anyone recognise this and know anything about its history or age? Wondering if it's worth hanging onto as I've just bought a DH bike again and the man cave is getting crowded... Maybe got some interesting parts on it:

Shimano STX / Deore LX transmission
Onza finishing kit (grips, bar ends)
Onza rail tyres

More pics in here:

(Pardon lack of embedded pics, I'm on a tablet)

It's a Crestone peak s.a.s comp 202.

Not really worth much I don't think, not a very successful idea in suspension desighn!

Make a nice project if youre willing to go the distance for it with new paint, decals and parts.New paint not a necessity but 'showroom' condition always makes things better
There are many many boring everyday run of the mill bikes about . Why not go for something interesting.

Re:

I'll probably get it cleaned up and bring it out for high days and holidays methinks! Seems they were relatively budget in their day so I'm not exactly sitting on a first generation c26...

Go for it mate, as said, it does not have to be the most expensive in the world, sometimes different is just as much fun
