Ok so i was hoping i could pick your brains again i bought a muddy fox which wasn't much good but with your help i got it up and going

http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=168801

I have now fitted a new cassette and chain and it ran fine for 2 days lol now the bottom bracket has a wobble to it so ive stopped using it in case i damage it but i was just wondering what tool i need to tighten it up or what part i need to replace it ,it just has a slight wobble when peddling no grinding noises.

This bikes been nowt but trouble so iv ended up buying a cheap Raleigh and im surprised at how nice it is (for the price of it) and i also have a happy son because hes just added a muddy fox to his collection

any help much appreciated :D

First check the crank arms are secured properly to the spindle.

Assuming they're OK, it's the bottom bracket and you'll need some tools. To do it properly, you need a lockring spanner and a peg spanner. If you don't have those, you can do it carefully with a small screwdriver and a mallet.

Undo the lockring anti-clockwise a few turns (on the non drive side, the big notched ring) and then turn the inner part of the BB with the peg spanner clockwise a quarter turn.

You might not be able to do this without removing the crank arm - it depends on the tool and the design of crank.

The trick is to turn it enough to remove the play without making it bind. Drop the chain off to see if it's spinning freely.

If you can't get it right, the BB is knackered and you need another one. Pay about £15 for a Shimano UN52.
