MT Racing was at least here Germany and Switzerland quite popular a few years (roughly 89-93)
I had the same bike for a while as the theme starter. Nice and solid but a bit heavy.
The models Classic-Pro or Ultra-Pro used better tube sets.
Let me provide some documents:
It looks like they have started in 1987
had at least one pro racer, Maria Canins from South Tyrol
and had nice Ultimate-like ECS models mit loop stays
Still today, I think there aren't a lot of fans, or MT racing bikes do get dismantled for parts like DX or even depending on model XT parts. Earlier bikes had also a nice straight rigid fork.
