Big big is never a problem as that's what you should set your chain up for.
When you are in the granny and you drop to mid cassette*, you will probably have a slack chain, not a problem you can still ride and when you notice you just change gear out of it.
This is because chain wise, it is put of spec by a long way. (46-26 + 30-13) is a lot larger than 28T chain capacity (thin is different to the cog size capacity) of the SS spec, it is within the SGS spec
You shouldn't have a problem with the middle ring and small back as 46-36+30-13 is within the SS spec.
A quick calc and 46-26 + 30-22 is 28T so just under a 22T rear, who knows which real size, if in the granny ring your change will start to go slack
But never a problem.
It is also why they moved to a GS 'medium' cage as it became known of XTR.
So conclusion, Long Cage (SGS) is perfect, but the Short (SS) will be fine if you know it's limits, it also look a bit kewl ;-)
