Have lurked on this forum for many years without posting but thought i would say hello and ask for some ideas on a Mavic ssc build. I have actually built two Mavic bikes previously Vitus 797 with old ssc and a newer Peugeot slx with the 8 speed g/s. Many years spent collecting the tricky parts and then foolishly sold both bikes during lockdown :-(
Anyway, the itch has returned and i have just sourced a nice 8spd ssc g/s from a nice chap in France. I also have some c-record 8spd wheels and pedals until i replace with 501 hubs.
The question is, what frame will best suit this g/s? Dont want to go Vitus again, too delicate, needs to be rideable. All ideas welcomed.
Other (just the older ones) bikes include
Raleigh road ace with 600ax
Basso slx with Croce D’Aune (deltas)
Geoff Roberts C-Record 8 (deltas)
Eddy slx c-record/chorus (deltas)
