Mantis…

Very COOL! thanx for sharing!

hmmm… if i match the build from that, i should go back to using the CT stem, and find myself a Rock Shox. :?

In the letter that came with the brochure Richard recommends the mag21 with the Mantis long travel kit fitted ;)

i need the fork first… luckily i have a lead on one. ;) but it doesn't have a 1" steerer. :(

I dunno if going back to an old catalog-spec is worth the effort at this point, and not exactly your MO any ways, Frank. ;)

I like the look of the Answer-equiped front end with the CBR cranks.

hmmm, well i'll prob pick up the Mag21 i have a lead on anyway. and i already have the CT stem. i'll prob though on both onto the frame and then make up my mind. ;)

got the rebuilt shock back. thx goes out to megaguy for servicing the shock and getting it up and running for me. :D

so with the manitou 3 setup, it just didn't look right to me. it looked too beefy and heavy. so i've been looking at alternatives.

i now have a Mag21 SL Ti, but need a 1" crown/steerer.

i also happened to pick up another working XC600 for as a spare to the one going on my Thunderbolt. it happens to be a 1" threaded steerer setup, and I had a spare threadless steerer along with an extra 1" CK crown race, so i thought i'd give it a go. i think it works much better with the rest of the bike. at the very least this will get the bike rideable sooner than later. if i do stick with the XC600, i think perhaps i need a silver ControlTech seatpost instead of the black one I currently have.

i also think i'll go with a set of Grafton Joystix instead of the CBR E-cranks. just need to sort out a set of chainrings for it.

This used to be my dream bike (together with the Manitou FS). Unfortunately, not very many were sold and are still around. What did you do with the blue one?

And what happened to the top tube of the green one? Was someone looking for cracks?

I'm also 99% certain you could refill that shock with plain air. Remember, air is 80% nitrogen anyways. Nitrogen has the added benefit that there's no moisture in it, while normal air does have that. So if you would use air, you might contaminate the oil a bit faster.

That was me. The paint was flaking really bad in that area, so I light-sanded the area to be sure there were no cracks. There weren't
