Hi All,

I'm after dimensions of the elastomers inside early Manitous, I may be on to a supplier of something suitable in 70. 80 & 90 Shore ratings.

Thanks

John

You won't get much movement out of 90 shore. 40-70 is probably a usable range.

Secondly what year/model forks as the architecture is different between models. I can measure up the ones from my 4s if you want :D

These are the sizes I have found so far.

Manitou 1:- 2 off 1.5" x 0.75" x 0.218" for the main springs and 1 off 1" x 0.75" x 0.218" for the rebound. The two main springs have a washer between them, this will need measuring.

Manitou 2:- 2 off 1.5" x 0.75" x 0.218" for the main springs and 1 off 1" x 0.75" x 0.218" for the rebound. The two main springs have a washer between them, this will need measuring.

Manitou 3:-

Manitou 4:-

If we can fill in the gaps, I'll see what I can come up with. Price wise I hope to be in the £20-£25 range. Shipping anywhere in Europe should be about £5.

I think I have an original owners manual for early Manitou forks, I fly home in a few days and will have a look if I can find it, If I do, I'll scan and publish hopefully what info you need!

If my memory serves the Mani2's have 3 main elastomers in the stack and a smaller rebound. I just suddenly had a thought that we may be over thinking this, quad skate cushions are about the right size (diameter), pre drilled for M8 bolts, cheap and easy to get hold of. The only catch is the softest they go is 72a, but for me this would probably be OK and I could assemble a stack to the correct height give or take a few mm as they are supplied in 14mm height.
This is what I was thinking of: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUREGRIP-Supe ... 72234eb55b
A stack for the Manitou 1 and 2 should be about £20 delivered as you need 8 a side, plus a rebound.

Carl.

Great intel, might look into this as an experiment.
